Nene Gare (1919-1994) was born Doris Violet May Wadham, the daughter of John Henry Wadham and Mary Wadham (nee Hounslow). She was brought up in Adelaide and educated at AdelaideArtSchool and PerthTechnicalSchool. Her best known work The Fringe Dwellers was made into a film in 1986. Nene Gare died in 1994.
