Fiona graduated with a BA from Melbourne Uni in the good old days when tertiary education was free. She started in publishing working for the Australian branch of UK publisher Routledge & Kegan Paul, and then worked for head office in London for two years. She returned home in the mid-80s and began working for Allen & Unwin firstly in sales then as an editor on their fiction list. Following that was a year at HarperCollins as Publisher of Literature. She joined Curtis Brown as an agent in 1993, and oversaw the purchase of Hickson Associates in 1999 when she became Managing Director. She was the founding President of the Australian Literary Agents’ Association.
Pippa has worked at Curtis Brown since 2001 in a variety of roles so is pretty much part of the furniture. She now works as a full time agent at the company and understands writing and writers very well since her mother is one! Over the years she’s developed a comprehensive client list of adult fiction and non-fiction, illustrated titles and children’s books. She is currently Treasurer of the Australian Literary Agent’s Association.
Anamarija joined Curtis Brown in 2018. She is studying a Bachelor of Professional Writing and Publishing at Curtin University. Anamarija spends most days reading, writing and making impassioned speeches about things nobody cares about. She has been referred to as delightfully strange, which she liked, and can often be found procrastinating with a book in hand.
Clair has managed to roll the unlikely combination of Maths and books, two of her more nerdy childhood passions, into her position at Curtis Brown. After completing her degree in Maths, she embarked on a corporate career in Brisbane. She left that behind to start a family and move to Sydney. When she returned to the workforce in 1997, it was to the genteel surrounds of Curtis Brown.
Benjamin joined Curtis Brown in 2015. He has a Masters of Publishing from the University of Sydney and has worked for various publishing houses and arts festivals Australia-wide. Benjamin is assistant to Clare Forster and Fiona Inglis and works with their list of clients.
With an MA in English from Edinburgh University, Tara Wynne started her publishing career just a few doors down from Charles Dickens’ house in Bloomsbury – at Sheil Land Associates. She joined Curtis Brown UK in 1998, and moved to Curtis Brown Australia as a Literary Agent in January 2002. She represents a broad range of writers from commercial (romance, thrillers, crime, fantasy) to literary fiction and non-fiction (travel, memoir, history, self-help) to young adult fiction and children’s. She is also Vice President of the Australian Literary Agents Association. In her spare time you can find her standing on her head, ocean swimming and whipping up a meal for friends and family, just not all at once.
