Amy Espeseth
Born in rural Wisconsin, Amy Espeseth immigrated to Australia in the late 1990s and lives on a small island in Gippsland, Victoria. A writer and academic, she is the recipient of the Felix Meyer Scholarship in Literature (2007), the QUT Postgraduate Creative Writing Prize (2010), and the CAL Scribe Fiction Prize (2012). Prior to publication by Scribe in 2012, Sufficient Grace won the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award (2009) for an unpublished manuscript. After publication, the novel was short-listed for the Barbara Jefferis Award (2014), UTS Glenda Adams Award for New Writing in the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards (2013), Warwick Prize for Writing (2013), and ASLE Environmental Creative Writing Award (2013). Sufficient Grace was also long-listed for the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award (2014), Davitt Award (2013), and the Stella Prize (2013); it also received an additional Honourable Mention in the ASLE Environmental Creative Writing Award (2013), and a Commendation in the Prime Minister’s Literary Awards (2013-2014).
